Again, Another Boy Attempts Plane Stowaway

Arik Airways
About two weeks after a teenage boy, Daniel Ihekina, was caught in Lagos for flying in the tyre compartment of an Arik plane from Benin, another airport trespasser has been arrested.
The trespasser, Mr. Leroy Ugaga, 25, was arrested on Monday by a joint patrol team of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigerian Air Force in Benin.
A statement by FAAN explained that the trespasser was caught loitering around the airport as he attempted to gain entry into the airside facility.
The statement said: “The trespasser was sighted and observed for a few minutes by members of the patrol team as he tried to gain entry to the airside and as soon as his intentions became clear, he was quickly apprehended and handed over to the Police for further interrogation.
“A joint perimeter patrol by FAAN’s security staff and men of Nigerian Air force at the Benin Airport is one of the additional security measures taken by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to forestall runway incursions at all Nigerian airports, following the stowaway incident that occurred at the Benin Airport on August 24, 2013.”
FAAN in the statement appealed to members of the public, especially youths, to avoid the risk of attempting to gain unauthorized entry into restricted areas of airports, across the country, as doing is now extremely dangerous.
“Trespassers are likely to be severely dealt with if the security patrols have cause to suspect violent intentions,” the statement said.
